Also a couple of days ago an email was sent out to some of the Spore fansites from EA informing us that there is now a fansite kit available out there for all you potential fansite creators. You can find it here:

Apologies for the delay in this news. I'm going through my "World of Warcraft Phase" which some [unfortunate] gamers go through at one point in their lives and it's completely distracted me from the site for the past week or two. Let's hope the addiction doesn't become too overwhelming.

Whilst this means it's not "before the holidays" as previously mentioned, it is finally set and will not be changed or delayed again. Along with the official release date there is a new video up on Spore.com which confirms this announctment. See it here:

Over the next few days creature pictures and gameplay screenshots will be uploaded to Spore.com and of course copied to Planet Spore. Keep an eye out for them.

The news comes from an e-mail sent by Maxis Cactus, Spore Community manager to all the major Spore fan sites on the web. To read the e-mail see the end of this post.

We have a bit of a wait, but who cares? Now we know when it's coming down to the exact date.

Hey Everyone,

I'm MaxisCactus, Community Manager on Spore. I've been working on Spore here at the Maxis team for a bit over a year now, and I'm very excited about bringing you new information about this game. I'll be here to fill you in on the latest updates as they become available.

Many of you have created amazing websites that are devoted to bringing information to the larger Spore fan base. Your contributions have helped garner a lot of support for this project, and have helped to generate much of the enthusiasm that's circulating about Spore. It's great to see so much excitement being surfaced through your efforts.

I know you've all been waiting to hear when this game will launch, and I'm very excited to tell you that the official ship date for Spore is September 7th, 2008! You are free to post this information on your own sites to let fans know when they can look forward to playing the game.
